BEFORE YOU SET OFF

A few things to know.

  • Treat village visits as visits to people’s homes: ask before photographing anyone and agree any fee first.
  • Share your travel dates, party size and preferred comfort level so the partner can confirm the route and lodging.
  • Bull-jumping ceremonies and particular markets depend on the community calendar; do not plan on a staged performance.

Before choosing dates, check current Ethiopia travel advice and regional restrictions . Routes and local access must be confirmed for your trip.
