Meet in Semera and travel by four-wheel drive towards Ahmed Ela. Continue to Lake Asale for the salt-flat landscape and late-day light, subject to arrival time. Settle into a simple camp for the night.

02Dallol and Erta Ale
Set out early for Dallol’s mineral formations, then continue towards Erta Ale. Your guide will decide the accessible route and whether a volcano walk can proceed. Volcanic activity and visibility change, so a visible lava lake is not promised.

03Lake Afdera and return to Semera
Travel back through the Afar landscape via Lake Afdera, with a stop to understand the salt-working landscape when conditions allow. Continue to Semera for your onward journey; organise any flight around the confirmed road schedule.
